You are at Dubrovnik airport and have time between the flights. We will give you some tips for places to visit in the neighborhood of the Airport vicinity area like Konavle valley and Zupa DubrovaCka that are all 10 minutes away. Of course, if you can manage, Dubrovnik Town as Pearl of Adriatic is not to forget!

Konavle valley activities

First of all, we will start with what to do in the Konavle valley area and all it offers. Depending on if you are a nature, gastro, or culture lover we are quite sure you will not be disappointed with this region.

If you are more for the active holiday, our suggestion will be hiking to the top of the mountain Snjeznica Konavovska. The highest peak is St Ilija (1234m), from where you can see all the islands nearby like Elaphiti Archipelago, Islands Mljet, Lastovo, Korcula, and Peljesac peninsula during a clear day. From the top, you can see some Montenegrin and Bosnian natural beauties as they are quite close. In Konavle you can attend a walking school as an attraction for health. A nice way to get to know Konavle is riding a bike, whether choosing a route by yourself or perhaps the most visited one Cavtat-Mocici-Cilipi.

Pasjaca Beach - Konavle

Pasjaca Beach – Konavle

In a village called Popovici, there is a small, but highly professional riding center Kojan Koral where you can learn to ride a horse or rent it for an hour or two to explore the area. In this village, you can find one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe – Pasjaca. It is really attractive as hidden and located on cliffs. It leaves nobody indifferent. Not surprisingly, it is not the end!  Adrenalin Park St. Anna is located in the village of Poljice. This park is designed for every age.

Cavtat

As Cavtat is situated by the sea, there you can enjoy the beautiful walks via the promenade and all the summer sports like diving, canoeing, etc. After a long walking day, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset by having dinner in one of the fine dining restaurants on Cavtat promenade. One of them gets a Michelin recommended – Bugenvila.

Food and wine in Konavle

Roastel Lamb - Konavle dish

We can’t omit to mention Konavle’s gastronomy. The local traditional restaurants and tavernas on the coast rely on the old recipes of Dalmatian cuisine and it usually offers local fresh vegetables, olives, fresh fish, all kinds of meat. The traditional Konavle dish, especially in the wintertime during Christmas, is ‘Menestra- green cabbage strew‘, made of various types of dried meat and cabbage. For tasting this one or any other dish from autochthonous cuisine of Konavle we recommend you to visit ‘Konavovski Dvori’ – the first green restaurant in Croatia. It is located on the banks of the river Ljuta where you can enjoy the whole landscape and atmosphere which is very attractive.

Wines from the Konavle region have a notable point for the whole of Croatia. The most famous sort of wine is Plavac Mali, Dubrovacka Malvasija, Marastina, etc. If you decide on wine tasting, we suggest Crvik Vinery located in Cilipi village near the airport. No matter if you like red, rose or white wine, there is an option to suit every taste.

Zupa Dubrovacka shopping

If you have time for shopping, we suggest going to Zupa Dubrovacka to the Dubrovnik Sub City mall where you can find all shops in one place. From the food to the clothes and cosmetics, domestic and international ones (H&M, New Yorker, DM, Muller…). It is just 12 minutes by car from Dubrovnik airport or from Dubrovnik Old Town. You can have lunch and coffee inside there, or you can have it in the café Local part of One Suite Boutique Hotel which is across the road.

In the end, if you missed it during your holiday in Croatia, the most beautiful view of Dubrovnik town is from Srdj hill. You can enjoy the whole panoramic view looking to the town and islands nearby, even if you already did the cable car. You can visit the War Museum and drink some coffee in Panorama café.  The panoramic ride can be enjoyed in only 30 minutes long de-tour on your way to (or from) Dubrovnik Airport.

Dubrovnik is a story for itself and no words can express it, so better find some time for it!
